Let me share an update on our “Story the Code” project! We’re collaborating with schools to transform student stories into interactive coding puzzles.
Imagine little mazes where students guide their characters, pick up items, and practice programming skills. It’s designed for kids aged 10 and up, and even older students find it engaging as they test their knowledge and compete.
A key part of this project involves a new showcase page where teachers can submit student drawings. These drawings will be refined using AI, demonstrating the capabilities of AI to students. This way teachers will be able to explain how AI can further refine children’s written stories and their drawings.
This project is particularly valuable because we’re working with local stories. This makes it easier to identify and discuss potential biases in AI, and how AI can sometimes “hallucinate” or create narratives that stray from the original story. It’s a powerful way to gain insight into what AI is capable of today.
The process starts with AI vision recognizing objects in a drawing, then describing them, and finally generating a refined picture based on those instructions. It’s a fantastic showcase of technology in action!
